Read what students and parents are saying about Alpha Martial Arts:

"I just wanted to drop a note to let you know how incredibly amazing the AMA team is. I have never seen a greater group of kids helping younger kids (or peers) in such a positive and inspirational manner. Miss Astre is in a league all her own. It’s typical to find schools and programs with one or two good teachers, but rare for the whole team to be so professional.

[My son] really loves AMA. I thought it might be hard for him being with such young kids, and starting at such a late age (so to speak!) but he looks forward to going and is focused on each tip test and belt test.

I’m sure you hear this a lot from parents, but we couldn’t be more impressed." -Susan N.-

"I've been a teacher at multiple academic levels for over 30 years and tremendously value the importance and art of teaching. I want you to know that I've had the pleasure of watching you teach these kids for several months now and can say that I've learned a great deal of very positive things watching how you work with them.

While I'm just a sideline observer, you have already taught me a quite a bit about the craft of teaching on several dimensions. I very much appreciate your dedication and the manner in which you work with these developing kids. What you are giving them really transcends karate instruction and a lot of the attitudes and ideas (both spoken and those provided purely by modeling) are finding their way into what [my daughter and son] are becoming as people.

At some point I hope to convey much more about this. For now, just let me say thanks and pass on my admiration for you as a teacher that is making a formative positive impact in the lives of all these kids." -Roger A.-

"Alpha Martial Arts has had a very positive impact on our son. We've learned through your program that karate skills are really just the icing on the cake. The cake being fundamentals like focus (i.e. hearing things the first time), confidence (I can achieve anything with practice and the belief that I can do it) and respect. It's important for young boys to hear these messages from someone other than their parents to reinforce the point. You've been a great mentor! Thanks for all that you do." -Sarah S.-

"We were reading a Calvin & Hobbes book a few days ago and Moe the bully punched Calvin. In response, [my son] said "I could use my karate on him!" That's when I suggested that we ask you if using Karate on bullies was okay. We touched on it briefly this a.m. but I was actually thrilled that [my son] took the initiative to walk up to you, wait his turn and ask you those questions about bullies and num-chucks without me standing nearby.

At home we are working on the importance of making eye contact while speaking, saying hi and bye to our friends, interacting with folks outside the family in an independent fashion, etc. Thankfully [my son] has not experienced Bullies except in cartoons, but your thoughtful answer will inform him and encourage him to continue to approach adults with questions. Thanks for helping give him the confidence and self-esteem to grow into himself. I never thought I'd be bringing my kids to a karate class two days a week, but I am glad we found you." -Mia W.-

"I really appreciated the Miyagi lessons for [my sons] the other week. No matter how many times and how many different ways [my husband] and I say certain things, the boys hear your words differently. And I truly appreciate that. I know you are very conscientious about being a positive role model and it shows in your students' behavior. In part, it was your thoughtful words that tipped me into finally beginning classes with you. And I feel very thankful that our family belongs to your school." -Lisa W.-

"Thank you so much for giving [my son] that HUGE success on Thursday. He was so proud of himself and has been practicing non-stop with his staff. He has taken some major blows to his esteem in school and he really needed to feel good about himself. You provided that opportunity and rewarded his efforts. You continue to be an important and hugely effective influence on my son." -Maria A.-
