Tuesday Teens & Adults – Empathy W4

Week 4: This week we’re talking about showing others that they matter and expressing concern. During a time when much of our communication has been changed by an excess of technology, how has the expression of concern been altered? Has the “human” part of concern been simply changed or has it been compromised? Fritz Williams, leader of the Baltimore Ethical Society once said; “Suffering and joy teach us, if we allow them, how to make the leap of empathy, which transports us into the soul and heart of another person. ln those transparent moments we know other people’s joys and sorrows, and we care about their concerns as if they were our own.” Do you think this is still happening or is that kind of human interaction a thing of the past? This week, your Powerful Thought Assignment is to set some New Years goals that incorporate the feelings and well being of others into your plans.
