12 Days of AMA Fitness Challenge 2011 – Day 1/12

The first week of winter break begins with Day 1 of the 12 Days of AMA Fitness Challenge. I would like to challenge all students (parents & siblings are encouraged to join as well) to complete 1 exercise every other day while we are closed for winter break (12/19/11-1/1/12). We will take off 2 days (Christmas Day and New Years Day). The odd workouts (days 1, 3, 5, etc.) will be  Basic Challenge Workouts and will follow a “ladder” structure (1 time up or down). The even workouts (days 2, 4, 6, etc.) will be harder Black Belt Challenge Workouts and follow the lyric format for the “12 days of Christmas”. Complete the fitness exercise for Day 1, then complete the fitness exercise for Day 2 & Day 1, then complete Days 3, 2, & 1… all the way up to the current days workout and back to Day 1. See the lyrics for the “12 days of Christmas” for more details 🙂 Feel free to scale any of the workouts to fit your current fitness levels (do 1/2 the reps, modify the exercises, etc.).

*For those of you who participated in the challenge last year, some of the days are the same, some are different. Day 1 is different. Enjoy!

AMA Fitness Challenge Day 1/12:

12 Jumping Jacks, 12 Push Ups
11 Jumping Jacks, 11 Push Ups
10 Jumping Jacks, 10 Push Ups
9 Jumping Jacks, 9 Push Ups
…all the way down to 1 Jumping Jack & 1 Push Up 🙂

Jumping Jacks: Open = Feet straddle hands clap overhead, Closed = Feet together hands clap thighs

Push Ups: Maintain a straight body & go all the way down (chest & hips touch floor) & all the way up, every time!
