April POWerful Word – COURTESY – Week 1
There are many ways that we can show courtesy to our family, friends, and other people in our school and in our community. Today, let’s brainstorm some of these ways. Does anyone know what it means to “brainstorm” (i.e. come up with ideas all together- without judgment)? Keep your ears open because I’d like you to choose a few courteous actions that you would like to incorporate into your week this week, ok? What are some ways we can show courtesy to our FAMILY, for example, (1) In the morning? (2) While a family member is working to complete a project? (3) When a family member is feeling sad or angry? What are some ways we can show courtesy to our FRIENDS: (1) When we see them at school? (2) When they look upset? (3) When we want to borrow something from them? Great! What are some ways we can show courtesy to a TEACHER/COACH: (1) When we want to ask a question? (2) When there’s a mess? What are 3 ways you can show courtesy this week? Report back on the results!
If you have time: What are some acts of courtesy that you can show here in class/team that could make a difference to your classmates/teammates?
