December POWerful Word – OPEN-MINDEDNESS – Week 1

It’s easy to say; “have an open-mind” when someone else is trying something new. But trying new activities and skills can bring up a lot of feelings that make it challenging to keep an open-mind. How might someone feel when they are getting ready to try a new activity or a game that they’ve never done before (i.e. nervous, anxious, excited)? What might they be thinking right before trying something new (i.e. Will I be good at it? Will people laugh? Will I like it)? Name something that you like to do that was once new to you. What made you decide to try it? How do you feel about it now that you’ve tried it? It’s so important to try new activities. Why do you think that’s true? Even our classes were new to you at one point! How did you feel when you started? How do you feel now? We are glad you kept an open mind!

If you have time: What is an activity/game that you would like to try in the future- when will you’ll try it?
