October Powerful Word – SELF ESTEEM – Week 3

This week, we’re talking about self esteem in body and mind. It’s easy to fall into a pattern of comparisons. The media and those closest to us contribute to a comparison culture where we can often fall short — what have you noticed? As leaders, we must be able to focus on strengths — the way people think, perform and contribute. Robert Anthony posited: “Comparison is a sign of poor self esteem. The person who compares himself to others lives in a state of fear. He fears those he imagines are above him. Believing them to be smarter, he feels unable to stand his own ground.” Think of a time when comparison was detrimental. How can we discourage negative comparisons where nobody wins out? This week, your Powerful Thought Assignment is to think through if you are guilty of negative comparisons. Will you correct it?
