September Powerful Word – DISCIPLINE – Week 1

This week, we’re talking about what it means to be disciplined and what discipline has to do with rules. Charles Millhuff, psychiatrist, wrote; “Many of life’s circumstances are created by three basic choices: the disciplines you choose to keep, the people you choose to be with; and the laws you choose to obey.” There are two kinds of laws or rules we’re talking about here — there are the rules/laws set by our society and there are the self-rules or what we’re calling “I-Rules” that govern how we act independent of imposed laws. Our “I-Rules” tell us things like how hard we should work, how well we should eat and how we should act when nobody’s looking. What is one of your top “I-Rules?” How can we help those we lead to shape their own “I – Rules?” This week your Powerful Thought Assignment is to pinpoint some of your key “I-Rules” and what top rules you most would like to impart to those you lead.
