The Muay Thai kickboxing class here is a genuine martial arts class
The Muay Thai kickboxing class here is a genuine martial arts class, not the “kickboxing cardio!” classes (yes, with exclamation point) that are usually promoted at more general fitness gyms. Which isn’t to say that those classes are bad; anything that gets people moving is good in my book.
I’m also not saying that you won’t get a killer cardio workout here – because you definitely, definitely will. Just be warned that you will be expected to punch things – hard. And kick them. And elbow them. If that sounds like your kind of thing, sign up!
The instructors are enthusiastic and fierce, but encouraging. I like ’em. There’s an underlying sense of discipline, perseverance, and a strong work ethic here – everything you’d expect from a good martial arts gym. We just started, but we plan on attending class once a week. It’s $59/month for one class a week; it’s a good deal.
I expect this is a good place for kids, too. I see them in the other classes, and little kids in martial arts gear are so cute.
