The problem with comparing yourself to others is that you usually end up feeling incompetent or overconfident. It’s absolutely okay to emulate the positive qualities you see in others, but you need to avoid the trap of negatively comparing yourself to others.
Comparing yourself to your potential helps you to set realistic goals and not to expect too much or demand too little from yourself in martial arts and in life.
