Powerful Words Teens & Adults – Citizenship W4

Week 4: This week we’re talking about citizenship in terms of community service, philanthropy, and charity work. At this time of recession in much of the world, charities tend to suffer. On the one hand, it’s been said that “As the purse is emptied, the heart is filled” (Victor Hugo). But on the other hand, money seems to be an issue these days, people are losing their jobs and money is tighter. So what are we supposed to do with those who are in need? As good citizens, what are our obligations to others in our community? How can we continue to help the people, animals, and areas in need? This week, your Powerful Thought Assignment is to decide on at least one way that you are willing to help others in terms of community service, charity, or philanthropy. Don’t just think about it. Decide. What will you do?
