Powerful Words Teens & Adults – Discipline W4

Week 4: This week we’re talking about the importance of thinking for yourself as a fundamental part of staying disciplined. David Campbell once said; “Discipline is remembering what you want.” I’d like to put the stress on the word “you” in that quote. Sometimes we are swayed by others to consider other goals or do other things that don’t fulfill us. Sometimes these things are really bad for us– sometimes they’re just things that knock us off track. Discipline is needed to stay focused on what you want and speak up when you are being pushed to do something that is not in line with your goals. How can lack of discipline in this regard rob someone from fulfilling their goals (i.e. peer pressure, drugs, disapproval of your dreams)? Have you ever experienced this kind of pressure? As a leader, what do you suggest others do about it? This week, your Powerful Thought Assignment is to consider each of the goals you are currently going after and the goals you really want to go after– are they in line with one another?
